Math tricks
1. Multiplying by 11 : To multiply a two-digit number by 11, add the digits together and place the result in between the original two digits. For example, 11 x 23 = 253 (2+3=5, so the answer is 253).
Math tricks
2. Multiplying by 5 : To multiply a number by 5, simply divide it by 2 and then multiply by 10. For example, 5 x 16 = (16 ÷ 2) x 10 = 8 x 10 = 80.
Math tricks
3. Squaring Numbers Ending in 5 : To square a number that ends in 5, take the digit before 5 and multiply it by itself plus 1, then append 25 to the result. For example, 25 x 25 = (2 x (2+1)) & 25 = 625.
Math tricks
4. Quick Square of Numbers Near 50 : When squaring numbers near 50, take the difference from 50, add or subtract it from 25, and then add the result to 2500. For example, 48^2 = (50 – 2) x (50 + 2) + 4 = 2304.
Math tricks
5. Checking Divisibility by 9 : To check if a number is divisible by 9, add up its digits. If the sum is divisible by 9, then the original number is also divisible by 9.
Math tricks
6. Finding Percentage of a Number : To find a certain percentage of a number, first find 10% of the number by moving the decimal point one place to the left. Then multiply this value by the desired percentage. For example, to find 20% of 150, first find 10% (15) and then double it (15 x 2 = 30).
Math tricks
7. Dividing by 5, 25, 125, etc. : To divide a number by 5, 25, 125, or any power of 10, simply move the decimal point to the left by the same number of places as there are zeros in the divisor. For example, to divide 450 by 25, move the decimal two places to the left to get 18.
